We understand that demolishing a home involves more than just tearing down walls. It requires meticulous planning, regulatory compliance, and careful handling of materials like asbestos. That’s why we manage the entire process from start to finish, including permits, service disconnections, hazardous material removal, demolition, site clearance and even remediation if needed. With over 15 years of industry experience, Rosemont Contractors is your trusted partner in delivering smooth, stress-free demolition projects tailored to your timeline and local council requirements.

Most homes built before 1990 need an asbestos removal assessment before demolition begins.

Home Demolition Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need council approval for demolition?

L
K

Yes. A home demolition needs approval before work starts, either a Complying Development Certificate (CDC) or a Development Application (DA) through your local council or a private certifier. We can guide you through which approval your project needs and help with the paperwork.

What happens if asbestos is found during demolition?

L
K

Work in that area stops until the asbestos is dealt with safely. Our team is licensed to remove and dispose of asbestos under NSW regulations, so we handle it in house and then continue the demolition once the site is clear.

How long does a home demolition take?

L
K

Timing depends on the size of the property, the materials involved, and whether asbestos removal is needed first. A straightforward residential job can move quickly, while larger or more complex sites take longer. We give you a clear schedule with your quote.

Do you handle site clearance?

L
K

Yes. We remove debris, load out waste, and leave the block clear and ready for the next stage, whether that is a rebuild, a subdivision, or landscaping. Backyard structures like sheds, decks, and fences can be cleared at the same time.

What types of demolition do you handle?

L
K

We carry out full home demolitions, partial demolitions such as garages, pools, walls, and extensions, and interior strip outs of kitchens, bathrooms, and garages for renovation projects.

What approvals or certificates are required before a home demolition can begin?

L
K

Both a CDC (Complying Development Certificate) or a DA (Development Application) for demolition are required before any work starts. These approvals may be obtained through your local council or a private certifier, many clients prefer private certifiers for faster processing, typically around AUD 950

How can I tell if my home contains asbestos?

L
K

Homes built or renovated before the late 1980s have a higher chance of containing asbestos in materials like cladding, eaves, and wet area sheeting. The only way to be sure is to test. We can inspect, test, and arrange licensed removal if asbestos is confirmed.

Elias and the team always do a good job. Great communication and very helpful. I’ve used them multiple times for villaboard in my bathroom and a fibro fence. I highly recommend them.

-Daniel Lesic

During a bathroom renovation, I removed sections of a type of board that looked somewhat suspicious. I contacted and booked Elias for an inspection and test of asbestos. Elias come the next day and we had the lap results 2 days later.

-Gerwin Janseen

Elias and his team went beyond and above to see work was completed quickly
and in a professional manner would not hesitate to to use them again thank you.

-Nick Psarras
