How long does asbestos testing take?
Testing before removal is essential to confirm the presence and type of asbestos-containing materials (ACMs). This not only ensures safety and regulatory compliance but can also save you thousands of dollars — as materials that don’t contain asbestos don’t need to be treated as hazardous waste.
In NSW, fibro cement sheeting must be treated as asbestos unless testing confirms otherwise. While visual indicators may provide clues, testing is the only way to be certain.

What Happens If Asbestos Is Confirmed?
A positive lab result is the start of a clear path, not a panic moment. Here is what comes next:
- Review the report with you. We walk through the lab findings, the fibre type identified (chrysotile, amosite, or crocidolite), the material condition, and the recommended action.
- Decide on management or removal. Some asbestos in good condition and out of the way of renovation can be safely managed in place. Asbestos that is friable, damaged, or sitting in the path of planned works should be removed.
- Quote the removal works. If results confirm asbestos and removal is the right answer, our removal team handles the next step with a free written quote, scheduled timeline, and clearance certificate at the end.
You are never locked in. Testing is testing. If you decide not to proceed with us for the removal works, the lab report is yours to use however you need, including with another licensed contractor, an insurance claim, or a property pre-purchase inspection.
